CPCC PROGRAMS FOR PHS STUDENTS
Career and College Promise (for Rising Juniors and Seniors)
CPCC Career and College Promise 2019-2020 Program Description and Procedures
Registration for CPCC’s Career and College Promise Program is a process. Students must complete all the steps by the deadlines in order to enroll in the College and Career Promise (CCP) Program at Providence High School. Read the following information carefully:
- To participate in the CPCC Career and College Promise Program at Providence, you must be a rising junior or senior, on track for graduation, and meet all eligibility requirements (see attached). Only elective classes may be taken at CPCC. Only current juniors and seniors may take classes in CCP Summer School.
- Talk with your counselor about whether or not this program will fit into your schedule. If you are a senior, you must be sure to meet all graduation requirements. All students must have early release in order to participate in CCP.
- You may take one CCP class if you have early release last block; you may take two CCP classes if you have early release the last two blocks. Students may not take more than 8 courses total per year, including CCP courses. Students may not stay on the Providence Campus during their Early Release Block and must have their own transportation.
- You can only select CPCC classes from the approved list of Career and College Promise Courses. Go to http://www.cpcc.edu/hsprograms/approved-academic-pathways and click on each pathway to see available courses.
- Tuition and fees for your CPCC Classes will be paid for by CMS. You may receive a $50.00 voucher for EACH class to help cover the cost of textbooks. You will be responsible for additional costs. Students taking summer classes will only have tuition paid for by CMS and are responsible for fees, books and any additional costs.
- You must follow CPCC’s Academic Calendar. You will start school in the fall at least one week prior to CMS. You might also be attending CPCC classes during CMS holidays, teacher workdays and spring break.
- Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from CPCC.
- You must attend a required CCP Program Orientation at Providence. You will receive the Orientation date once you submit your completed application to Ms. Walker, including your CPCC ID Confirmation and Placement Scores. Information about how to register for your classes will be given at this meeting. This meeting is mandatory to enroll in the CCP program.
- The grade you receive for your CCP Program classes will count twice. This grade will go on your official CPCC College Transcript, and it will also go on your CMS High School Transcript. These are college level classes and the professors will treat you as such. You will receive one extra quality point for any course that meets the articulation agreement for college transfer. See course descriptions to find out if they meet the transfer requirements. Note: grades earned in CCP Summer School will not be included on your Providence Transcript.
- Attendance at CPCC classes is required. Three or more absences in your CCP classes could result in an “F” for the course. This could mean an “F” on your College Transcript and an “F” on your High School Transcript that will factor into your GPA and class rank. Receiving an Incomplete or Withdrawn will also result in an “F” on your PHS transcript.
Steps to Enroll in the PHS College and Career Promise Program
In order to successfully register for courses through the Career and College Promise Program, it is necessary to read and complete the following steps. For more information, visit www.cpcc.edu/hsprograms

Parents are encouraged to attend!
2. APPLY TO CCP: A special application is required for all CCP students. Go to www.cpcc.edu/hsprograms and click on “Enrollment Steps for CMS Students”, then “CCP Application”. Once your application has been processed, you will receive an admissions letter by email from [email protected]. This letter will include your Student ID Number (You will need that number when creating your CPCC login). If you do not receive an email with your Student ID within three business days of submission, please check your junk or spam email folder. If it is not there, contact [email protected].

NOTE: Students MUST complete the PHS application in order to participate in the CCP Program. Be aware that each school has its own rules and deadlines as well. The deadline for PHS students to apply for the 2019-2020 school year ended on April 1, 2019. Only rising seniors who have early release may still sign up for CCP for summer, fall or spring.

Registration for Summer and Fall courses will be on April 30, and registration for Spring classes will be in November (date TBD).
13. Check your balance and pay your bill through your MyCollege account.
14. PICK UP YOUR CPCC STUDENT IDENTIFICATION CARD: Get your free Student ID card after you register and pay your fees. Your ID card will serve as your library card and may be used in the community for a variety of discounts. You will need to bring a photo ID in order to obtain a student ID card.
15. PICK UP A PARKING PERMIT: Parking permits are required on all CPCC campuses. You can pick up your parking permit at the Cashiering offices on any of our six campuses. CCP students do not have to pay for Parking Permits.
16. BUY YOUR BOOKS: To receive your ($50 per course) voucher to help with books, print your schedule from your MyCollege account and take it to any CPCC campus bookstore. Not all books are available at all campuses. Students are responsible for the difference after book vouchers have been applied.
