What is Exploring?
Exploring is about helping young adults make a more informed decision about future careers and determine if a particular career is the right one for them. Typically, a young adult will learn about a career and decide to pursue it OR learn enough about the career to determine it’s not the right fit for them. It’s better to learn as a young adult that a career is not for you than to spend lots of money on an education only to then discover you don’t like a career!
In the Exploring program, youth gain unique, real-life opportunities to experience varied career choices. It’s not about lectures and slide shows- it’s about gaining practical insight and hands-on knowledge in a career field. Exploring offers experiences in a variety of career fields. Try one or try them all! The cost is $60 per year, no matter how many posts you attend.

Exploring Career Interest Survey
Each year, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools conduct a career interest survey which will ask for your student’s name, address, and student ID number. The purpose of this survey is for local businesses and community organizations to recruit students to join the Exploring program, which is done through mailing invitation letters to join their business’ Exploring program. This program is a not-for profit organization whose goal is to give students career experiences in order to help them guide their decisions when choosing what to do after high school. These businesses and organizations participate voluntarily and receive no monetary compensation for their services. Participation in this evening program is voluntary, but highly encouraged, and can offer many benefits including: a half-elective credit with CMS schools, an added resource for the graduation project, and many other social and professional benefits.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this survey, please contact the Exploring Office at 980-342-9347.
